【摘要】:Frettingwearandcorrosionarepotentialserviceabilityfactorsinmanymachines.Theyhavealwaysbeenfactorsinshippingfinishedgoodsbytruckorrail.Packingmaterialsrubbingonaproductintransitcanmaketheproductunsalable.Beveragecansandfoodcanscanlosetheirtradedressandconsumersoftenequatecontainerdamagetocontentdamage.Clampingsurfacesoninjectionmoldsaredamagedbyfrettingmotionsonclamping.Thisdamageisasignificantcauseformoldreplacement.Machinesinshipmentaresubjecttofrettingdamageintherealareaofcontactofthebearingsonthemachines.Operatingvibrationandmovementofmechanicallyclampedcomponents,likescrewedassemblies,canproducedamageontheclampedfacesandotherfacesthataffectsmachinefunctionoruse.Manytimesfrettingdamageappearsintheformofpits,whicharestressconcentratorsthatcanleadtomechanicalfractures.Electricalcontactsinanydevicethatissubjecttovibrationaresusceptibletofailure(opencircuit)duetofrettingdamageatrealareasofcontact.Thistestmethodisintendedtobeusedtoidentifymatingcouplesthatmaybelesspronetofrettingdamagethanothers.Thisinformationinturnisusedtoselectmaterialsofconstructionorsurfacetreatmentsthatarelesspronetofrettingdamageforapplicationswherefrettingconditionsareknownorperceivedtoexist.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthestudyingorrankingthesusceptibilityofcandidatematerialstofrettingcorrosionorfrettingwearforthepurposesofmaterialselectionforapplicationswherefrettingcorrosionorfrettingwearcanlimitserviceability.1.2Thistestmethodusesatribologicalbenchtestapparatuswithamechanismordevicethatwillproducethenecessaryrelativemotionbetweenacontactinghemisphericalriderandaflatcounterface.Theriderispressedagainsttheflatcounterfacewithaloadingmass.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Thetestmethodisintendedforuseinroomtemperatureair,butfutureeditionscouldincludefrettinginthepresenceoflubricantsorotherenvironments.1.3Thepurposeofthistestmethodistorubtwosolidsurfacestogetherundercontrolledfrettingconditionsandtoquantifythedamagetobothsurfacesinunitsofvolumelossforthetestmethod.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
